Caused by chlorine combining with swimmer waste

 

Treat the pool with a chlorine-free shock of your choice. Then add SeaKlear Natural Clarifier or SeaKlear PRS according to directions

 

Organic Waste
Caused by environmental debris

 

Skim and vacuum the pool. Use a chlorine-free shock then add SeaKlear Natural Clarifier or SeaKlear PRS according to directions

 

Mud and Silt

 

Treat with SeaKlear Rescue Klear or SeaKlear PRS according to directions

 

High Alkalinity

 

Treat pool with muriatic acid added according to manufacturer directions

 

High pH

 

Treat pool with muriatic acid added according to manufacturer directions

 

High Total Hardness -
Calcium levels over 400ppm

 

Drain some or all of the pool water. Test calcium levels in fill water and treat with a hardness reducer if necessary before refilling

 

High Total Dissolved Solids(TDS) -
TDS levels over 1500 ppm

 

Backwash or drain the pool

 

Poor Filtration

 

Check the Filter
Clean or backwash the filter according to manufacturer instructions

 

High Phosphates -
Good phosphate levels are below 220ppm

High Metal Content -

For pools with salt chlorine generators or high phosphate levels, treat with SeaKlear Metal Klear

 

Low pH

 

Add sodium carbonate (soda ash) to pool to raise pH to levels between 7.2 - 7.6

 

 

Green Water
Cause Solution
High Copper -
Levels higher than 0.2 ppm

 

Keep metals in check by regularly treating the pool with SeaKlear Stain Prevention & Remover—Professional Strength or SeaKlear Metal Klear

 

Low Alkalinity

 

Raise alkalinity by treating the pool with sodium bicarbonate

 

Algae

 

Remove existing algae using SeaKlear Yellow Klear according to directions. Once algae is gone, test for phosphates and use SeaKlear Phosphate Remover CR if needed.

To prevent any further algae outbreaks, use SeaKlear 90-Day Algae Prevention & Remover* or SeaKlear Problem Klear according to directions.

Stains on the Pool

Black Spots or Yellow or Green Algae

 

For existing yellow algae, treat the pool with SeaKlear Yellow Klear according to instructions.

To prevent yellow algae and treat existing black algae (spots), use SeaKlear 90-Day Algae Prevention & Remover* according to instructions.

 

Brown or blue-green algae stains that will not brush off — on gunite or other hard surfaces

 

Treat the pool with SeaKlear Stain Klear

OR use SeaKlear Stain Prevention & Remover - Professional Strength by itself according to instructions

 

Brown, blue emerald green, or purple stains that will not brush off — on fiberglass, acrylic, or vinyl surfaces

Body oils and dirt from swimmers

 

Treat the pool with SeaKlear Free & Klear according to directions. Use SeaKlear Natural Clarifier weekly to remove and prevent oil buildup on the filter and surfaces.

For existing oil and visible scum on tile and water lines, use SeaKlear Enzyme Klear or SeaKlear Rescue Klear according to directions.
